INTRODUCTION

Varanasi, one of the oldest cities in the world, is a street photographer's paradise. A timeless place briming with spirituality, the city is always filled with thousands of devotees from all over India and around the world to take part in ancient rituals, take sacred dips in these holy Ganges, and seek spiritual enlightenment.


If you are a passionate photographer who want to witness and capture a slice of ancient India, our upcoming photography workshop is for you. This workshop is designed to provide you with the opportunity to explore the multiple facets of this incredible city while being mentored by 2 photographers who have already walked the streets of the city countless number of times and will provide you with the right tips to ensure a fruitful experience.

From witnessing interesting ceremonies to documenting the faith of the devotees, from walking along the ghats to getting lost in the alleyways and bylanes of the old city, we will provide you with the right environment for you to experience and capture the spirit and essence of this timeless city and go back home with wonderful memories and stunning photographs.

PREREQUISITE

  1. Laptop with photo-editing software.

  2. A good pair of shoes.

  3. Camera with preferably a small lens and extra batteries.

  4. Videoconferencing via Google Meet for the theory session.

DETAILED PLANNING
 

Day 0 (date will be shared with the workshop participants) - 3h:

A few days before the workshop (date to be confirmed), we will host an introductory session on street photography. 

This session will take place online (via GMeet) and will last 3 hours.

 

Day 1 (13/02/2026)

  • Arrival to Varanasi by afternoon/early evening.

  • Meetup dinner.

  • In the evening, walk around the ghats to soak in the atmosphere and take some pictures.​
     

Day 2 (14/02/2025) - Full day shoot

  • 6-9AM: Photography along the ghats

  • 9-10AM: Breakfast

  • 10-12PM: Shoot along the bylanes

  • 12-2PM: Break for lunch

  • 2-6PM: Afternoon shoot on the other side of the river and then back along the ghats.

  • 7-10PM: Dinner and review of the images shot during the day.

​Day 3 (15/02/2025) - Full day shoot

  • 6-9AM: Photography around Manikarnika ghat

  • 9-10AM: Breakfast

  • 10-12PM: Shoot along the bylanes

  • 12-2PM: Break for lunch

  • 2-4PM: Afternoon shoot of the preparations of Maha Shivaratri.

  • 4PM: Wrap-up. For those who want, they can head out again at night to photograph Shivaratri.

At a later date (to be confirmed), we will meet again virtually for a review session of the images taken during this workshop.​​

NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS

The workshop is limited to 10 people on a first come first serve basis.

This ensures that the mentors will be able to spend time with each student individually and provide adequate feedback during the walks.

The participant's seat will be confirmed as soon as the payment is made.

  • Accommodation. We will inform the participants on the location where we will stay but the hotel booking is the student's responsibility

CANCELLATION POLICY

  • Within 1 week from the payment day: 75% refund

  • Within 2 weeks from the payment day: 50% refund
